Our Staff

- Cindy Teal—Classics. Revisits those books we all read in school, and some we didn’t. She has reviewed over two hundred book for BookReads and is a frequent lecturer at libraries in Rhode Island, where she lives with her two cats and six parakeets.
- Walter Brahms—Humor. From Twain to Sedaris, Walter covers anything that brings a smile to our faces. He has a degree from Yale and has lectured extensively on humor in American literature. He currently lives in Manhattan with his wife of twenty-five years and his two children.
- Beatrice Cowell—Anything goes. All those books that the others in the group couldn’t get to. Beatrice has an open mind and you never know what she’ll review.
- Jason McCuller—Off the beaten path. Small press, independent publishers, and books that might have gotten lost in the shuffle. After moving papers about for ten years on Madison Avenue, Jason decided it was time to try and publish a book himself. The result was not a success, but the knowledge he gained has helped many a developing writer. In 1996 McCuller started a consulting firm that has been extremely successful. He writes part time for BookReads.
- Lloyd Nolan—Southern Lit. A reviewer of one of our favorite areas, there’s sometimes crossover between Southern and other genres. Lloyd is a professed “Southern-aholic,” reading anything and everything that comes out of that area of the country. He has taught in several universities and is currently writing about his experiences as a teacher. He received his bachelor of fine arts degree from New York University and a master’s degree from Harvard. His other interests include everything from white-water rafting to fly fishing, and he has currently developed an interest in molecular genetics.
